GWDG at "Science goes City" on 19.04.2026
On Sunday, April 19, 2026, starting at 12:00 p.m., science will come out of the laboratories, libraries, offices, and lecture halls into the streets of downtown Göttingen, transforming the area once again into a vibrant science mile. Diverse research meets a diverse city at the “Science goes City” event, where people of all ages are invited to experience hands-on science. Discover exciting experiments, lectures, and interactive stations from all academic departments – right on site in downtown Göttingen and its shops.
The GWDG will also be there again with an interesting presentation on data flows on the Internet and would be delighted to welcome many visitors. The World Wide Web has become an indispensable part of our daily lives. We use the Internet in all areas to find information, exchange ideas, or communicate with one another. This intensive use raises the question: How much data is sent every day? How long does this take, and through which countries does this data flow? In a brief demonstration, we would like to visually illustrate these data flows.
The detailed program and further information about the event can be found at https://www.science-goes-city.de .
